Congratulations to Maria Smith who took part in the New Forest Marathon together with her sister, Lisa and the wonderful Diplock brothers – Eddie and Andy ❤️

Here’s Maria’s account of her day out on the trails 😍

The New Forest Marathon – 3:34:52 😊. Such a beautiful route running through forest, trail, fields and road.🌲🌳The weather made it tough because of all the mud and puddles. It rained most of the way around with heavy rain when I was at mile 2 then again around mile 21. Loved seeing the horses🐎 galloping along or crossing the road in front of us.

A bit of mental strength needed for this run because there wasn’t the crowd support to get you round. I went through a few moments wondering why I was doing this then kept feeling pain in my left leg and thinking it would be easy to just stop. BUT it’s a marathon, they’re never easy and I can do this and I’m lucky that I can!

I was incredibly pleased with my time and it was nice to have the sun 🌞 come out when I finished so we could relax and enjoy the music at the end. Now a rest for a few days and back to doing what makes me happy…running 😊xx

Well done Maria 🖤❤️ That’s a super time in challenging conditions.  We are all very proud of you.

Next years event takes place on September 14th. There’s a full marathon, half, 10k, 5K, Junior race and a woodland walk 🚶🏼 so something for all the family 🪵 🌲
