🚀 MAGNIFICENT MIKE SMASHES ANOTHER SUB 80 MINUTES IN THE OXFORD HALF 💥

Our Harrier Mike Leigh 🚀 delivered another sensational performance on Sunday 11th October, storming to a flying performance at the prestigious Oxford Half Marathon and once again breaking the coveted 80-minute barrier!

The historic university city of Oxford came alive as a record-breaking field of approximately 15,000 runners descended on its streets for the 15th edition of the Oxford Half Marathon 🎉

First held in 2011, the event has grown into one of the UK’s most popular autumn half marathons, renowned for its fast, flat course, fantastic atmosphere and stunning surroundings.

Taking runners through the heart of the famous university city, the scenic 13.1-mile route passes historic architecture, the picturesque village of Old Marston, the River Cherwell and Oxford’s beautiful university buildings.

With thousands of spectators 🥳 lining the streets and cheering runners on, the sold-out event provided a fantastic setting for those chasing personal bests, tackling their first half marathon or raising money for worthwhile charities.

Among the huge field saw Mike Leigh, who once again demonstrated his incredible speed, strength and determination, powering around the course to cross the finish line in a phenomenal 1:19:18, wow 🤩 !

Breaking 80 minutes for a half marathon is an achievement in itself, but to do it consistently and continue shaving precious seconds off an already impressive time is testament to Mike’s dedication, discipline and commitment to his training.

His latest performance is another outstanding addition to an ever-growing collection of running achievements, proving that his hard work and competitive spirit continue to deliver fantastic results.

Everyone at Hailsham Harriers is immensely proud of Mike and the dedication he puts into his running.  Whether representing the black and red at parkrun, over 10K or across the half marathon distance, Mike continues to go from strength to strength, and it is fantastic to see his efforts continually rewarded.
