BOURNEMOUTH 10K☀️
☀️ SUNSHINE GARY GOES SUPERSONIC WITH A SENSATIONAL BOURNEMOUTH 10K PB!
Sunday 11th October 2026
☀️ Sunshine by name, sunshine by nature! Our Harrier, Gary Crossan, certainly lived up to his nickname on Sunday 11th October, producing a scorching performance under the Bournemouth sun 🌞 to smash out a sensational new 10K personal best of 41:58!
The popular Supersonic Bournemouth 10K forms part of the spectacular Run Bournemouth weekend, a fantastic celebration of running that brings thousands of runners, spectators and supporters to the beautiful Dorset coastline each autumn 🍂
Originally part of the Bournemouth Marathon Festival, which launched in 2013, the event quickly established itself as a firm favourite on the running calendar, offering distances for all ages and abilities alongside a buzzing seaside atmosphere.
For Hailsham Harriers, Bournemouth holds particularly fond memories for us.
In years gone by, an army of black and red would regularly make the journey down to the coast for a whole weekend of racing, laughter, camaraderie and plenty of post-race celebrations! 🍺
With a full marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K and junior events on offer, there was something for everyone, making it a much-loved fixture in the club’s racing calendar.
Sadly, the full marathon was discontinued after the 2019 event, with the festival subsequently rebranded as Run Bournemouth. Although the absence of the marathon meant the end of our big Harriers weekends away, the magic of Bournemouth’s running festival has never disappeared.
And this year it was Sunshine Gary ☀️ flying the black and red flag!
The Supersonic 10K 🚀 is renowned for its fast, flat and breathtakingly scenic course. Starting at the spectacular Hengistbury Head, runners are treated to magnificent clifftop views before descending onto the seafront promenade.
From there, the route hugs Bournemouth’s stunning coastline, taking runners past beautiful sandy beaches and out along the wooden boards of Boscombe Pier before continuing towards the iconic Bournemouth Pier and the eagerly anticipated finish at Pier Approach.
With the sea sparkling 🌊, glorious sunshine overhead and enthusiastic crowds lining the route, the atmosphere was nothing short of magical.
The combination of stunning coastal scenery, fantastic organisation and incredible support makes this one of those races that runners return to year after year.
And Gary certainly made the most of it!
Producing a superb display of speed, strength and determination, he powered around the 6.2-mile course to cross the finish line in a brilliant 41 minutes and 58 seconds, securing a fantastic new personal best 🔥 🙌
A phenomenal performance and a richly deserved reward for his hard work, consistency and commitment to training.
With the Bournemouth sunshine providing the perfect backdrop, Gary proved that the Supersonic 10K really does live up to its name!
Everyone at Hailsham Harriers is immensely proud of Sunshine Gary.
A stunning coastal course, glorious sunshine, a magical atmosphere and a sensational new PB – what more could Sunshine Gary ☀️ ask for?
🖤❤️
