These two Christmas events have been part of HH 🖤 ❤️ for many years and showcases a fun evening for both our junior and senior Harriers in the build up to Christmas and the end to a year of fabulous training.

Both events are a fun time-based festive run (1.5K for our chickens 🐓 and 2.5 miles for our turkeys 🦃) where runners are set off in one-minute intervals according to pace.  The first runner home wins a set of cinema tickets (for the chickens 🐔) or a crimbo gift card (for the turkeys 🦃).

🐔🐔For the Chicken run 🐔🐔, Head Elf Annette 🧝‍♀️ had this to say:

Well done to all our awesome mini HH who ran so fabulously during the annual chicken run 🐥 👣

Massive well done to Oscar Croucher for staying so strong and winning himself some cinema tickets, a really impressive run to hold on to the win! We hope that’s given Oscar loads of belief in his running with his time seeing him place 7th overall 💪👏

Holly and Jack posted the quickest times of the night for the young ladies and chaps respectively- they were rapid times 👏😯 Our other prize winners were Poppy (that outfit was awesome! 🧑🏼‍🎄) Emilia (who was just embracing the festive spirit) and Lilly (she kept on going when she felt like giving up and crossed the line in 4th position!) You were all superstars 🤩

It has been a true delight to have Daisy help out the coaching crew during the last few weeks 🤩 it’s wonderful to have her back & witness her gentle return to running ❤️ Thanks for assisting my ailing eyes on the night Daisy 👀 Big thanks also to the parents who braved the cold to help out &  provide our mini HH with a load of encouragement 🙏

🦃🦃And in the Turkey Trot 🦃🦃:

We saw magnificent performances from our team of 22 festive Harriers with Lou Lou Williams 🌺 taking this year’s Turkey Crown 👑 after a fabulous year of running, in a time of 20:38.

We saw Chris Doherty 👁️ speed round in a rapido 13:52 (wow 🤩) to take fastest male on the night and secure, we think, one of the fastest male turkey 🦃 trot times in our club’s history (we believe Ben Warren holds the 👑 tbc with Paul Stacey second (1996) in 12.39 and Tom Sargant third (1997) in 13:45 – please feel to correct me if wrong)

For the girls, Alice 🐈 , in a superb crimbo home-made outfit flew over the line in 16:54, to take fastest female 🙌 absolutely amazing!  Both Alice 🐈 and Chris 👁️ received bottles of wine 🍷 to enjoy over the crimbo period.

Spot prizes we awarded on the night to Mick 🏃🏽 , Kev 💪🏼 and Andrea 🇭🇺 – let’s hope you’re enjoying a nice cuppa out of those fabulous Santa 🎅🏻 mugs 😘

Many Harriers secured new turkey PB’s 🦃 on the night 👏🏻 and hugest congratulations to those who took part in the Turkey Trot for the first time  – you’re all amazing.

Once all our Turkey Trotters returned home safely it was back to the hall for mince pies 🥧 and lots of chocolate goodies.  We usually draw the London marathon ballot place but the confirmation for this was delayed this year.

On the night we encouraged everyone to bring a donation to Hailsham Foodbank and our amazing Harriers team went over and above AGAIN in this request.  Hailsham Foodbank were overwhelmed with our generosity 😊 with Lousia 🌷 and Tinks 🧚🏻 having the honour of delivering our collection of behalf of HH.

Finally, lets not forget to raise a glass 🥂 to all those that made the night happen – our wonderful organisers; Ruffs, Els and Annette, not to mention our time keepers, marshals, volunteers, cheer squad and of course to all our fabulous chicken and turkey runners 🐔 🦃
