๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ The River Run, Shoreham ๐ŸŒŠย

Sunday 14th September 2025
Shoreham played host to The River Run in September, a scenic and challenging event that took runners along the banks of the River Adur and, for the marathoners, up onto the South Downs.
With both half marathon and full marathon options, the race offered something for everyone; from those chasing a personal best on the flatter riverside paths to those braving the climbs and views of Chanctonbury Ring.
The half marathon route followed the river upstream ๐ŸŒŠ through Bramber, passing castle ๐Ÿฐ ruins before looping back along the opposite bank to Shoreham.
The marathoners extended their journey into the Downs, with panoramic views that were breathtaking with some pretty tough climbs.
Overall, the terrain was mixed with a blend of trails, compact paths and tarmac making it deceptively tough.
Running for team Hailsham ๐Ÿ–คโ™ฅ๏ธin the half marathon saw Andrea Gilkes ๐Ÿ‡ญ๐Ÿ‡บ storm around in a mighty 2:18:30. ย This is a superb time Andrea on what sounds like a beautiful but challenging course ๐Ÿ™Œ Well donw lovely ๐Ÿฅฐ
The marshals and volunteers offered plenty of ย encouragement all the way round and the aid stations were well-stocked, though a few runners noted cup shortages, so next year, a reusable cup โ˜•๏ธ might be wise!
With a complimentary finishers t-shirt ๐Ÿ‘• and plenty of food trucks for spectators, this looks like a great one for next yearโ€™s running calendar.
570 runners raced the half marathon whilst 130 completed the marathon.
Head to the uk training club website for more races and details of next years river run.
