๐ Goodwood Motor Circuit Running GP 2025๐
Sunday 9th February 2025
Harriers David Woollard ๐๏ธ, Jo Davis ๐ข, Tinks ๐ง๐ป, Robbie and Fluffy ๐ headed to Goodwood Motor Circuit ๐ on Sunday to take part in the Goodwood Running Grand Prix.
Home to the Festival of Speed and Goodwood revival this mighty bunch of Harriers enjoyed the thrill of racing their way around a smooth, traffic free, motor racing circuit ๐
Runners could take part in one of six race distances on the day – 5K, 10K, Half Marathon, 20 Miles, a Marathon or a 50K Ultra marathon.
David ๐๏ธ, Robbie ๐ฎ๐น and Tinks ๐ง๐ป raced in the half marathon on what was a chilly (4ยฐ), grey morning with a strong headwind on the back straight which gradually increased on every lap ๐ฑ
Starting at 10:30 the Harriers trio completed 5 laps of the motor circuit with speedy pants david ๐๏ธ crossing the line in a rapido 1:24:42 (13th overall) and first๐ฅin age ๐ with Tinks ๐ง๐ป 1:36:25 and Robbie ๐ฎ๐น 3:04:39 also finishing first in age ๐ฅ ๐
๐๏ธDavid had this to say ๐คโAn out and back section the opposite way to begin the race then 5 laps the right way around the circuit.
To run this race track is a honour and privilege knowing famous racing drivers who have actually raced here themselves and many of whom I have met over the years at Goodwood.
It’s been awhile since I’ve done a road race and the half marathon distance. Weather conditions were cold and there was a tough wind to contend with around sections of the circuit which was tough and got stronger as the race went on.
Today was to run and see where my pace is at. Today I took this as a win under the circumstances. I was able to push hard against the wind running @sub 3hr marathon pace. 10k was bang on 39 minutes. I didn’t give up and kept pushing on regardless and was in control with a strong mindset. My fitness felt good and today’s time reminded me that several years ago I could only dream of getting the time that I got.
I am thankful that I can run and with the support I get from other runners๐โโ๏ธ๐โโ๏ธ๐คโค๏ธ
In the 10K distance, Fluffy ๐ running with a poorly hamstring, completed two gentle laps of the circuit to finish in 55:07 and Jo ๐ข running with her pal Tom, sailed around in a mighty 1:08:33 โญ
๐ขJo had this to say ๐คโAnother day, another run to post…๐คฃ๐คฃ Part 1 of the 2025 Race Track Running Series! No PB today but the plan was always just a chatty catch up run and it was great to see Tom back out and running again ๐๐ The wind got a bit chippy at times but thankfully no rain and I definitely like running around a race track! Next track up – Silverstone – am I gonna be brave enough to do Brands Hatch this year tho…๐ค๐ค??โ
๐คโค๏ธWell done to all our runners, impressive performances right there and Jo โฆ. Be a brave tiger ๐ฏ Go run Brands Hatch ๐๏ธ๐๐๏ธ๐
In total 16 runners took part in the 50k ultra, 164 in the marathon, 75 runners in the 20 miles, 285 for the half marathon, 355 in the 10K and 110 in the 5K.
If you like the sound of this event it takes place again on October 19th 2025.
