Saturday 26th October

In dry but humid conditions compared to previous years, 623 runners took part in the Beachy Head 10K last weekend, which included seven hardy Harriers.

Described as ‘a route with scenic views’, although probably not this year due to the fog 😂 this event was introduced in 2013.  It’s certainly not for those who like a flat course as like the marathon, the half and the ultra there’s plenty of steep climbs, and undulating mixed terrain, before that nice, fast downhill finish.

First home saw Leeland 🚴🏽‍♂️ in a rapid 52:57 followed by our Harriers quartet of Abi 🌷, Bilts 🐦 , Nemo 🐠 and Tash 🍹 1:07:52, who all ran the event crossing the line hand in hand for a photographers money shot 📸.  It was absolutely fabulous to see our wonderful Steph 🧁 back out and racing.  She flew down the hill in 1:16:41 as she steadily builds back up her miles and speed.  Our final Harrier home, all smiles and to a huge cheer was Kaz 🦘 1:19:45 taking on both the 10K and the following day, the half marathon …. Super woman 👧🏼

‘This year I decided to sign up to beachy head 10k having never ran it before and last years weather putting me off doing the marathon 🌧️ I also wanted to complete my full set of Beachy medals 🏅 😜

Starting with a warm up dance of the Macarena 🇪🇸 on the start line, I think most people were already knackered before then tackling that monster of a hill to start ⛰️

Myself, Sam, Tash & Bilts chose to run as a social bunch, completing the 10k together in 01:07:52. It was also Bilts’ first race back since injury after this years London Marathon 🙌🏻🎉 we absolutely loved it’.

🎤 Congratulations to our super team of 10K-ers.  It is simply magical to see Bilts 🐦and Steph 🧁up and running again.  The team camaraderie shone through and this is the sparkle of the Beachy Head weekend. Well done team and huge congratulations to you all🖤❤️
