Saturday 27th September

Bilts fire 🚒, Bartz 🍺 and Matt Courtnell 🚑 took on the 50km dusk till dawn race on Saturday 27th September organised by local event teams UK Ultra.

Starting at 6:30pm under moody skies and finishing beneath the soft glow of autumn light at Plumpton Racecourse 🐎 , the route tested every ounce of endurance. The course traced a stunning yet unforgiving path through the South Downs; a mix of chalky climbs, open ridgelines, and woodland trails that offered both beauty through headlamps and brutality in equal measure.

‍Fully stocked aid stations and wonderful marshals, including our very own team Morris ♥️were out in full force to take care of 160 hardy runners.

The Dark Downs 50 isn’t just a race, it’s a test of heart and resilience. Bilts, Bartz and Matt all rose to the occasion with black and red spirit 🖤 ♥️

Impressively after running and volunteering throught the night Bilts, Abi and Jayne even turned up to run our Hellingly 10K just hours later, with Bartz marahalling 👏🏻

Bilts 🚒 and Bartz 🍺 crossed the line in a mighty 5:59:26 with Matt 🚑 hot on their heels to finish in 6:31:57.

A huge congratulations to all who took part, and special thanks to UK Ultra 🇬🇧 for their smooth organisation and to all the volunteers who made the event possible.

For our three tough Harriers, it seems no distance is too daunting as they have one more race to complete in UK Ultra’s triple crown 👑 challenge.

Here’s to muddy shoes, tired legs, and their next big challenge on the horizon.
