HQ:42 – A Marathon of Team Spirit and Inclusion👮🏻♀️
Sunday 13th November 2025
Swapping sirens for sweat and paperwork for pavement, our boys and girls in blue 👮🏻♀️ delivered true Harriers spirit as they took part in a one off challenge. Read Los’s wonderful account below to find out all the details and fabulous performances:
On 13th November 2025, Sussex Police Headquarters in Lewes played host to HQ:42 – a unique and inspiring running challenge designed to bring together colleagues of all abilities for a day of fitness, camaraderie, and determination.
The challenge was simple in concept but mighty in execution: complete as many 1km loops of the headquarters site as possible. The magic number — 42 laps — represented the full marathon distance of 26.2 miles, but the event was designed to encourage everyone to take part, whether that meant one lap or forty-two. It also ran aside the current 7 miles for 7 weeks challenge whereby it is the final week and double mile week!
Throughout the day, 18 runners took to the route, embodying the true spirit of teamwork and inclusion.
Three runners – Mick Husarz, Rob Chrystie and Los Burrett from Team ‘Paranormal Inactivity’ – went the full distance, completing all 42 laps (plus a little extra) to officially reach marathon mileage. Their determination, endurance, and good humour set the tone for the event and kept spirits high from start to finish.
Another runner achieved an impressive 20 miles, showing great resilience and commitment even without going the full marathon distance.
Many others joined for shorter runs, taking on personal challenges that ranged from a single 1km lap (a fantastic effort from a self-professed non-runner) up to 10 miles.
A special mention goes to Vicky Little 👮🏻♀️ who provided enthusiastic support throughout the day – cheering on her colleagues and encouraging runners to keep going – while still finding the time and energy to complete 12 laps (7.5 miles) herself.
The event also saw one particularly memorable milestone: one participant, who had never before run more than five miles, not only broke her 10km barrier but went on to complete 12km in total – a tremendous personal achievement and a perfect example of what the day was all about.
From seasoned runners to first-timers, every participant contributed to an atmosphere of encouragement, teamwork, and collective success. The day perfectly captured the inclusive ethos behind HQ:42 – proving that with mutual support and a shared goal, everyone can push a little further than they thought possible.
By the time the final laps were logged, the smiles, laughter, and sense of accomplishment spoke volumes. Whether completing one lap or forty-two, every runner played a part in making HQ:42 a truly memorable day.
Total runners: 16
Total distance covered: 243km or 151 miles
Spirit shown: 100%
