Race 4/6 – Warren Hill

Did someone say wind? A 25mph wind??

Together with Eastbourne Rovers, Hailsham Harriers were honoured to help organise, support and marshal at short notice, race number 4 in this years 22/23 East Sussex Cross Country League.

No event can happen without a team of marshals and volunteers so it is with hugest gratitude that the following Harriers receive a big shout out for all their valuable help and enthusiasm whilst enduring the various weather elements of the morning 🌧️ 💨 ☀️ 🥶 👏🏻 Michelle Hollands, Ros, Julie LC, Geoff Depper, Lord Norman, Peccles ♥️ and Martin Bell.  Together they joined a band of equally amazing volunteers from Eastbourne Rovers 💙🤍💜, Heathfield Road Runners ❤️, Uckfield Runners 💛and Central Park Athletics ♥️🖤

A huge shout out should go to one of Hailsham’s newest Harriers – Niki WS who bravely moooved the HUGE herd of cows 🐄 before the runners began the long drag up to the road 👏🏻 thank you Niki, you’re a lifesaver 💕 

Behind every great event is a great leader and it is thanks to Mike Thompson (Eastbourne Rovers Chairman) that this was ultimately a great success from start to finish 🥰👏🏻🥰👏🏻

The event saw 35 junior runners and 426 seniors brave the brutal conditions.

Nineteen Harriers 🖤❤️competed against runners from 23 clubs.  First home for the Harriers saw Linford Crusty 33rd (32:58) followed by Graham Woolley 🧶 42nd (33:27), Captain 👨🏻‍✈️ Barts 60th (34:34), Los Jellybaby 👶🏼  62nd (34:41), Bilts 78th (35:15), Matt Southam 💪🏼 84th (35:24), Shipo 🛳️  114th (37:10), Tinks 🧚🏻‍♂️  118th (37:23), Chris Little 🔥 138th (38:18), Jenny 167th (39:29), Annette 194th (40:46), Fluffy 🐌 198th (40:58), Cross Country Hannah 🏕️ 237th (42:24), Victoria 👮🏻‍♀️ 271st (44:05), Julie Chicken 🐓 296th (45:30), Felicity 305th (45:59), Michelle Hollands 318th (47:02), Katy Reed 341st (48:21), and Katie Manley 345th (48:40). 

Congratulations to all the junior winners in their age races and to David Ervine from HY Runners, overall race winner and in a time of 28:36 and to Grace Baker from Hastings AC, first female in 31:39.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who gave up their time on Sunday to set up, marshal, support, cheer, organise, car park manage, gate open, run, tail run and clear up🖤❤️ A successful event is achieved by absolutely EVERYONE involved and the comments received by other clubs on the ESSCCL Facebook page once again prove just that 👏🏻
