⚓️ Great South Run 2025 🌊

Sunday 19th October 2025

Portsmouth once again delivered its trademark mix of sea breeze, lively crowds, and fast coastal miles in the Great South Run’s iconic 10-mile course.  Sadly last year the event was cancelled due to high winds so the atmosphere was even more electric for the 25000 runners.

In soggy conditions, with mild temperatures and a tough winds along the seafront, conditions were pretty tough for racing.

The morning kicked off with a wave of excitement as thousands of runners streamed through Southsea, the Historic Dockyard, and past the ever-energetic residential sections where locals came out in force with music 🎶, banners, and the usual selection of jelly babies.

Our club fielded an enthusiastic team of five, showcasing everything from first-time 10-milers to seasoned runners chasing personal bests.

Linford Crusty 🍪 crossed the line first Harrier home in a mighty time of 1:03:13 🙌 where he also recorded his 1000th running mile for 2025.

Team Little; Chris 🔥 literally on fire finished with a new 10-mile PB in 1:14:21 🥳 and Sister Victoria 👮🏻‍♀️, also raced to a new 10-mile PB in 1:30:47 ⭐️

Team Squires: Neil 🏃🏽 flew over the line finishing strong in 1:26:52 whilst wife Amy 🌻 stormed through the course in her first 10-miler with an impressive 1:41:46 …. Just Wow 🤩

Runners were treated to Portsmouth’s finest landmarks: The Historic Dockyard, complete with HMS Victory 🚢 looking on, the lively atmosphere through Old Portsmouth and the now famous Spinnaker tower.

Spectator support was exceptional as always, with steel bands 🥁, choirs 🎤, and local residents lining the route, carrying runners through that final push home.

With the Great South Run now behind us, attention turns to winter training, cross-country fixtures, and early-season half & full marathons.

Congratulations to our feisty five who took part, whether you chased a PB, supported a loved one, or simply enjoyed the miles. You did us all proud 👏🏻 🖤❤️ 👏🏻
