Saturday 26th October

This year the ultra marathon – a challenging 32 miles saw Mark Bassett and Alice Denning compete amongst a field of 229 runners.

The route takes on the tough Beachy 10K course, followed by the undulating marathon course.

On a perfect day for running our two hardy Harriers truly nailed it with Alice 🐈 crossing the line 2nd place 🥈 lady in 5:04:22 and our Bassett hound 🐶 Mark, finishing in an impressive 6:02:16

Mark had this to say;  “Wow, what an amazing experience running the Beachy Head 50k Ultra Marathon, my second Ultra! 🏃‍♂️ The stunning views along the white cliffs definitely fired me up, which was fortunate because I had to run the 10k and Marathon route, which both include that section! It was awesome to see members of the Hailsham Harriers both volunteering and competing along the course, and receiving my medal from another fellow Harrier, Maria Stanford was great!🏅🖤❤️ Finishing with a time of 6:02 was a huge accomplishment for me, and I’m already looking forward to my next ultra race, UTS Snowdonia!⛰️🌟 The support and camaraderie among the runners made the whole event even more memorable. A special mention to Steph who encouraged me to upgrade from the marathon to the Ultra with a month to go, and was there supporting me at the finish!🏃‍♀️❤️”
