Hailsham Harriers 2023 Christmas Run 🌲
Sunday 3rd December
The Christmas celebrations this year were voted for by our members with the top choice – a Christmas run followed by a celebratory lunch/dinner.
Once the votes were in, our beautiful Felicity; chief events organiser, set about researching possible venues. Abbotts Wood 🪵 thus became the setting for our Harriers run with a dinner afterwards at the lovely Old Oak Pub close by.
Elf Annette 🧝♀️ and Tinks 🧝♂️ thought they’d add some sparkle to the run with a treasure/scavenger hunt.
On the day, the soggy weather ☔️ and the endless downpours did not deter a merry band of festive Harriers from channelling their competitive personalities and getting stuck into a task filled 5K run.
Our merry bunch were split into two teams, black and red, with two team leaders chosen by way of chocolate Santa’s 🎅🏻 Amongst many elements to score points we saw our teams hug a tree with the biggest girth, collect a Christmas list of objects, complete a piece of twig art 🌴, find their way via coloured coded ribbons 🖤❤️and collect an array of sparkling gift tags. The run ended with a team rendition of their favourite Christmas carol 🎵 before drying off and heading to the pub for a well deserved dinner 🥘 and the exciting results.
With great efforts on the day by both teams, resulting in a very close call, the team with the winning points were the black team ‘shame about the rein-deer’ They pipped the red team by a reindeer nose with their jolliest Christmas carol video footage🎄
Big thanks to Lisa PH 🧡, Felicity 🌺, Karen, Ivy 🐾 and Jinx 🐕 for helping to set up the course in extremely wet conditions, to Annette 💚 for her help and ideas with the hunt and the prizes 🎁, and to Felicity (once again) for her sterling organisation in a Christmas event to remember 😍
We would like to wish all our wonderful members and their families a truly magical Christmas 🎄 🎅🏻 🎁
