Race 6/6 – Pett Wood

Sunday 12th March

Pett Wood in Hastings saw the final fixture in the ESSCCL.  Hosted by Hastings Runners 🖤💚and Hastings AC ❤️🤍💙 the course provided a real chocolate box of terrains with thick mud, woods, hills, gravel tracks, bridges, grassy fields and a great opportunity for a sprint finish.

Despite a popular day for running races we still fielded a strong team of runners.

First home for our Harriers team saw Linford Crusty in 32:08, Tinks 🧚🏻‍♂️ 36:56, Matt Southam 38:27, Chris Little 🔥 38:38, Cross Country Hannah 43:25, Julie Chicken 44:59, Victoria 👮🏻‍♀️ 46:47, Sam Nemo 🐠 47:15 Felicity 🌸 47:24 and Ros Thomson 59:36.

And just like that, another cross country season draws to an end 🏁.  It has been full of fun, severe weather extremes 💨 ☔️, tough hills, steep descents, mud, laughs 🤡, speedy times, team spirit 🖤❤️, top performances and great camaraderie between the 18 clubs that have taken part.  

A big thank you to the East Sussex Sunday Cross Country League, to all the race organisers, time keepers, marshals, runners and volunteers who have worked tirelessly over the past six months to deliver a wonderful season of cross country 👏🏻 

To our members, a BIG thank you to everyone who took part this year and ran the quota of four races 💪🏼 A massive shout out to Felicity, Victoria, Matt Southam and Hannah who ran all 6 ⭐️ 🤩  and to all those that helped, last minute, to put on the Cross Country fixture at Warren Hill together with Ebo Rovers earlier this year 🖤❤️

Huge congratulations to Crowborough Runners who lifted the overall Team Trophy.  As a club we finished 9th/17 overall👏🏻🖤❤️

You’ll all agree that our ‘star of the show’ goes to Hannah for her dedication, WhatsApp posts, car sharing opportunities and contribution to ensuring a black and red turnout 🖤❤️at every race.  Her efforts certainly haven’t gone unnoticed as she was voted our ‘2022 Cross Country Champion’ 🏆 at the annual Harriers awards evening on Saturday night …. Congratulations Hannah 🏕️ well deserved 👏🏻 

The ESSCCL 23/24 season will begin again in October this year.  Happy Spring/Summer everyone 🏝️☀️ 🍹
