The popular race is a firm favourite on the Welsh running calendar, boasting one of the flattest marathon courses in Europe.

The route offers iconic landmarks, including the city’s historic Castle, traditional Victorian Market, Transporter Bridge, modern riverfront development and International Sports Village.

The Marathon and half marathon races also take in the stunning scenery of the Gwent Levels – with its coastal wildlife 🐦 and picturesque medieval villages.

Standing at the gateway between England. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 and Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 and surrounded by stunning scenery, Newport covers a geographical area of just over 73.5 square miles and is steeped in a rich industrial heritage.

Over 2.69 million people visit the city annually and it boasts a growing reputation for sporting, national and international events.   Highlights have included The Ryder Cup ⛳️, NATO summit, Olympic and Paralympic training camps, Wales Velothon 🚴‍♀️, Tour of Britain and the Admiral City of Newport Half Marathon.

Taking part in the marathon alongside 3000 runners and flying our club colours with pride 🖤❤️saw one of our own quietly deliver a performance to be seriously proud of 🙌

Our brilliant Treasurer, Oli 💰, took on the 26.2 mile challenge with heart.   Now, he might tell you it wasn’t his day… but from where we’re standing, this was something pretty special 💥

Marathons test everything, pacing, patience, mindset.  Oli dug in deep, stayed strong 💪🏼 when it mattered, and crossed the finish line in true Harriers defiance with a remarkable time of 3:29:18🏁

Not every great run comes wrapped in a personal best.  Sometimes it’s about showing up, pushing through, and enjoying the experience of somewhere new.

Performances like this are the backbone of our club. Determined, and full of quiet strength 💪🏼
