The Sussex Cross Country League is a series of four races, organised by the county 💙 💛 which take place annually between October and February at different venues across Sussex.

Within the league there are age and gender graded distances of up to five miles and through recent years a non-scoring Under 11 race has also been introduced to give athletes aged 9+ more race opportunities 🏃🏼‍♀️ 

The fantastic Goodwood course 🐎 played host to the first fixture kicking off a fantastic season ahead and marking the end to Summer running with the temperatures taking a tumble to just 12°🥶 

Sadly with the Hove Prom 10K the day after, it was a small Harriers turnout for race one with Maria Smith 🙌 joining 106 runners to represent the Harriers 🖤❤️ in the U17, U20, Senior and Vet Women’s 5K race.  Maria had a sterling race crossing the line in a fabulous time of 22:18 (46th).

In the lads 8K race, Tom Bilton ⚽️(Bilts) competed again 124 runners to fly the black and red flag 🚩.  He flew around the course in a smashing 34:01 (79th) 🤩 

Those are two fabulous times Maria and Tom 🖤❤️ On behalf of us all, thank you for being there and for your super efforts. 

Maria stayed up in that neck of the woods to take part in the Great South Run the next day.  Seems her speedy XC run paid off as she rocked the GSR running a 10 mile PB of 1:13:36 🙌 🙌
