🌊 Eastbourne 10K 🍦
Sunday June 25th – 8:30am
Organised by Sue Fry and Liz Lumber of Smallfry Fitness Events, The Eastbourne 10K is a friendly, flat 10k along the beautiful seafront promenade 🌊
With a change to the route this year due to ongoing construction work at the historic bandstand, the Eastbourne 10K, now in it’s fifth year, proved to be another roaring success.
Starting with an amended route at the Holywell Tea Chalet on the lower prom, runners headed east passing the Wishtower, Bandstand, Pier, Fisherman’s Green and the Sovereign Centre 🏊♀️. The awesome Brian ‘the Lion 🦁’ Winn from Polegate Plodders stood tall and proud as he marshalled next to the skatepark which heralded the turn around point for the field of 306 runners who then headed back west along the same route towards Holywell for a fabulous finish 🏁
Nine harriers🖤❤️ took part in the race this year with many more volunteering to help out and marshal at the event.
With tropical temperatures nearing the late 20’s our first Harrier home saw Captain Bartz cross the line👨🏻✈️ in 41:29, followed by Chris Little 🔥 47:47, Bill Fraser ✉️ 53:12, Victoria 👮🏻♀️ 53:20, Lady Delves 56:06, Katie Manley 🌼 58:08, Cathy Gilling 1:05:40, Kirstie Groves 1:05:40 and Lord Norman 🤴🏻1:17:13 1:17:13
Congratulations to Lady Delves who for the fifth year running won her her age category award 🏆 👏🏻and to Team Little who both raced the Robertsbridge 10K on Friday evening 💪🏼 🤩
An enormous shout out and a huge black and red welcome to two of our newest Harriers Cathy Gilling and Kirstie Groves, part of our C25K program who ran together and stayed together to finish in a superb time, despite Cathy forgetting her trainers and having to run in her slippers 🥿 Welcome to the club ladies 🖤❤️
Wow, wow, wow ……Look at all those amazing times 👀 especially in that heat, you’re all mighty fabulous 🥵🖤❤️
And lets not forget those Harriers who helped to marshal and volunteer – Graham Woolley, Graham Purdye, Tina and Tracy and to all those who made it down to cheer, take pictures and support.
Huge congratulations to Matt Grindrod of Brighton & Hove AC who beat the men’s course record in a rapid time of 33:58 🚀 😱
Donations from the entry price were made to JDRF – a charity committed to eradicating type 1 diabetes.
Next years Eastbourne 10K looks set to follow the same course route and is awaiting a date confirmation, no doubt it will be just as awesome as this years …. Well done Sue and Liz 💕
