Gatwick 10K ✈️
Sunday 21st May
Hailsham Harriers Anne Brandenburg and Jenny Hall packed their bags for a trip to Gatwick Airport on Sunday, not for a holiday in the sun ☀️ but to run the Gatwick 10K.
With temperatures a little on the warm side, the 10K route took 1100 runners from the start at the Gatwick Aviation Museum to inside the restricted perimeter road which runs right along the full stretch of the live runway. With full permission from Gatwick airport, runners were treated to exciting running action as they sped around the course whilst planes were taking off and landing ✈️
Adding to the roar of the jet engines overhead, plenty of local supporters were out in force to cheer on the runners 🙌
This year a charity 5K relay in teams of two was also on offer, with the changeover point at the end of the runway on the perimeter road! How exciting ✈️ especially for all those plane enthusiasts amongst us.
Anne, one of our newest Harriers, raced in our club colours for the very first time 🖤❤️ and had a supersonic run, crossing the line in 1:15:34 🤩 whilst Jenny bagged herself a new 10K PB finishing in 45:21 🙌
Super well done ladies, two fabulous performances.
