Eastbourne Half Marathon 2023

Sunday 5th March – 10am
Now in its eighteenth year, the Eastbourne Half Marathon is very much a community event, aimed at runners of all abilities with a course that provides beautiful sea views, music 🎶, great support, and a fun, friendly atmosphere.
The ethos behind the Eastbourne Half Marathon is to raise money for charities and local good causes and through the past few years over £140,000 has been donated to charity.
A whopping 22 Harriers took part in the event either through running for a set time or taking on the tough, but rewarding task of pacing others to new personal bests.
As a club we were honoured to see plenty of amazing achievements on Sunday, including Rocket Ross 🚀 storming to a new PB in 1:16:34 and coming an impressive second place 🥈 overall.  Captain Barts 👨🏻‍✈️ continued his fabulous, fast start to the year, cracking his PB to finish in 1:28:21.  Tinks ran with the wonderful Woolley 🧶 who succeeded in pushing her to a fantastic time of 1:37:16.  Matt Southam finished strong in 1:39:06 fending off BIG Si 1:38:18 who was hot on his heels down the finish straight.  Audrey’s recent hard-work has really paid off as she finished in a spectacular time off 1:41:16 followed by our 1:45 pacing duo 🧡 Ads and Hendo 🎨 who cruised effortlessly to the finish.  Ricky Curran ran his first half marathon for the Harriers in a an awesome time of 1:46:21 👏🏻 🤩 with Chris Little 🔥1:48:09 and Cross Country Hannah ⛺️ 1:55:45 both running to shiny new HM PB’s 👏🏻.  Barry Burgess 🦷 successfully stayed ahead of our sub 2 hour pacers, Alan and Shaun 🧡 to cross the line in 1:58:32 whilst Katy Reed had an awesome race, running much faster than she had planned, to finish in 2:11:08.  Our sub 2:15 pacers, Sam Nemo 🐠 and Gary Pope🚙 were all smiles as they crossed the line, with Kaz 💇🏼‍♀️, 2:23:19, fitting in a last minute training run before she heads off to run the Rome marathon with Robbie on Sunday 19th March.  Nadine and Michelle, our 2:30 pacers 🧡 were full of encouragement as they accompanied plenty of runners across the finish line.  Wendy Quinn, joined by her friend Sophie, ran to raise money for St Wilfreds Hospice finishing in 2:30:49 whilst Robbie 🇮🇹made up the final Harriers team, crossing the line in 3:03:03 🏃🏼‍♂️
Thank you to everyone that gave up their time to pace, cheer, support and take pictures.  Congratulations to everyone that ran.  Apparently those were the best weather conditions the Eastbourne Half Marathon has seen for almost a decade 👏🏻 And finally, a BIG thanks to Alan for organising the pacing roles once again and allowing Hailsham Harriers to fill the majority of roles 🧡Well done Team 🖤 &❤️
