Sunday 1st October 2023 – 10:30am

Race number 10 in the Sussex Grand Prix calendar saw a whopping team turnout (25 compared to the previous years 7) at the Lewes Downland 10 & 5 mile on Sunday 1st October 🖤❤️

By far the most challenging, hilly, scenic race in the league and once again our black and red spirit shone out in full force.

Beautiful Felicity took part in the 5 mile race at 10:30am, having a superb run to finish in 46:25.  She then stayed behind to cheer in every single one of her team mates who took part in the 10 miler ⭐️

Both the 5 & the 10 mile routes start just north of Lewes town centre at Landport Bottom Meadow.  The routes are run over the south downs at Blackcap and Mount Harry, with plenty of elevation, grassy tracks, gravel paths, chalky hills, stunning views and a fast, downhill finish.

Ads 🦈 flew across the line in 1:12:01, first Harrier home 🖤❤️, whilst The Leeks

🐫 placed second female 🥈 overall in an incredible time of 1:17:02, winning the V35 age category 🏆 and our club legend, Graham Pundye, took the V60 age category win in a mighty impressive 1:23:33 🏆

For recent couch to 5K graduate, it was an absolute joy to see Kirstie Groves 🌺 complete her longest EVER run.   Kirstie crossed the finish line, all smiles in 1:58:33 joined by Lou Lou who took a tumble along the way but sailed home, also gleaming 😃 across the finish line.  Huge shout out to The Bassett Hound 🐶 and Fluffy 🐌 who both shaved off an enormous 9️⃣ minutes from their previous times on the same course in past years.

Everyone should be immensely proud of their fantastic efforts on a brutal course, for supporting each other and for the team camaraderie seeing our final runner in 🖤❤️
