The Milland Road Race has been a huge part of our club roots for many, many years.

It was originally set up to mark the transition from Winter training into Summer and to see the remarkable results of everyone’s training through Winter & Spring.  It also pays homeage to our clubs London Marathon runners, hence why the date always falls in late April and why the distance is just 2.6 miles (3 loops of Milland) 😜

This year the Milland Road Race also heralded our new house 🏡 move to the Cricket 🏏 Pavilion.  We have long been proudly served by Summerheath Hall and are very grateful for everything they have done for us all 🖤♥️

Last year we saw a huge turnout of runners and were adamant that this year, to coincide with the London Marathon breaking the world 🌍 record for runners, we wanted to do the same on our own doorstep.

Well we did it!!!! 🌟 We achieved a Milland Road Race world 🌍 record of 30 runners and a cheer squad of 15 !!!!

First over the line, just seven seconds off the lifetime club record (11:32) set by Mark Wells in 1995 was our rapido, potato 🥔 eating rocket, Chris Doherty 🚀 in 11:39 with fluffy 🐌 (trying to keep up) on the lead bike 🚴🏽‍♂️, 2nd 🥈 place for the chaps went to David 🏎️  in 13:29 and 3rd 🥉 won by Martin 🛎️ in 14:03.

First lady went to Claire Keith 🍒 in 14:19 just one day after she won the Garmin Trail Marathon in the New Forest 🤩 Incredible!! 2nd lady went to Sarah Day who flew round in 14:39 🔥 and 3rd to Belinda 🌹 who stormed over the line in an impressive 16:26 🌟

We saw fantastic performances by everyone who ran, including plenty of course PB’s and many first-timers.

We celebrated with lots of spot prizes, chocolate 🍫 and a big cheer for all our marathon runners over a fantastic April including those that completed Southampton, London, Boston, Brighton and the New Forest Marathon 🌳 🙌 🏃🏻‍♀️ 🏃🏻‍♂️

Well done to everyone that ran tonight, cheered & supported and thank you to our guest appearance from Nigel Ducky Poo’s Duckworth 💓, Milo 🐾 and Frank 🐾
