Sunday 12th January 2025

Hosted by Lewes AC, and after days of chilly 🥶 temperatures, frost, ice 🧊 and snow ⛄️ , the conditions underfoot were that of frozen mud, icy puddles and snowy hills.

First to take to the frosty terrain were the mighty Junior races with 40 entrants aged between 11 and 17.  Showing us all how it’s done saw Oliver Hobden fly over the line, 8th in 10:09 and John Gilkes hot on his heels to finish 11th in 11:10 for the Under 11 boys.  For the Under 13 girls, Emilia Woodley finished a spectacular 6th overall in 13:25 running her first ever cross country race 🙌 Well done to our Junior heroes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

At 10:30am 374 senior runners from 23 clubs gathered on the start line with blue skies and sunshine ☀️ making for a stunning picturesque morning.

Twenty-Eight Harriers 🖤♥️were out in force, making this our clubs biggest EVER turnout at this event compared to previous years.

Everyone smiled as they braved the elements whilst delivering a hardy showing of Harriers grit and determination 💪🏼

Our final results were as follows; First Harrier home saw Chris Doherty 🚀 30:28 (6th) followed by Scott Harris 🏃🏽 34:14 (39th), Alice Denning 🐈 34:29 placing second female (44th), Linford Crusty 🍪 34:29 (45th), Gary Woolven 🚴 34:35 (47th), Bartz 👨🏻‍✈️ 34:45 (49th), DG 🛀 35:05 (56th), Woolley 🧶 35:41 (62nd), Claire Keith 🍒 35:54 (67th), Los Jellybaby 👶🏼 36:26 (76th), Bilts ⚽️ 37:03 (84th), Maria Smith 💆🏼‍♀️ 38:00 (101st), Chris Shoult 🦵🏻 38:39 (112th), Oli P 💷 38:42 (114th), Katy Reed 🦆 39:02 (121st), Mark Pope 🙏🏻 39:38 (137th), Robin 🏄🏼‍♀️ 39:51 (140th), Chris Little 🔥 39:58 (142nd), Graham Pundye 😂 41:04 (162nd), Sarah 🌷 42:25 (185th), Annette 💚 44:48 (222nd), Neil ⭐ 45:34 (231st), Ros Daintree 🌺 47:30 (248th), Nemo 🐠 49:41 (269th), Andrea 🇭🇺 50:35 (277th), Hannah DC 🏕️ 57:18 (339th), Cathy 🥿 57:18 (340th), Victoria 👮🏻 57:19 (341st), and Penfold🐭 1:27:54 (374th).

Huge shout out to Neil Squires, who joined just a few days before and then made this event his  debut race in Harriers colours – An incredible performance, and welcome to the family Neil 🖤 ♥️

As a team we currently sit in sixth place overall with many members in podium positions for the the individual prizes 🏆 Amazing stuff team 🖤♥️

The next East Sussex Sunday Cross Country Fixture takes place on the 16th February at Whitbread Hollow, Eastbourne, and will be organised by local club, Run Wednesdays 💖
