Alissa Ellis
Role on Committee: Ladies Club Captain
Harrier since:
I have been a member of Hailsham Harriers since 2012 and have never looked back!
I enjoyed running at school and took part in various events with 1500m and Cross Country being my favourites. I was also a keen hockey and netball player, but my focus was my love of equestrian activities.
It wasn’t until my youngest son’s diagnosis of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy that I started running again. I was keen to do a sponsored event and decided to run the Great South Run for Muscular Dystrophy UK.
I thoroughly enjoyed the achievement and was keen to keep running so decided to join a running club.
In true ‘Red and Black’ spirit I was made to feel very welcome during my first few training sessions and Norman Harris was particularly supportive and encouraging.
Since joining Hailsham Harriers my running has improved enormously and I have really enjoyed taking part in various competitions with XC being my favourite.
Reason for running:
For me there are SO many reasons why I enjoy running.
- Health benefits -both mental and physical.
- The social aspect, meeting friends old and new.
- Being outside in the fresh air and enjoying the hills on the South Downs.
- It satisfies my competitive streak!
What I bring to the committee:
As ladies captain I aim to promote and encourage members to take part in anything that Hailsham Harriers has to offer, you will always be guaranteed support in achieving your goals.
