Sunday 5th October 2025

A bright but breezy morning welcomed runners to the south coast for the rescheduled Hastings Half Marathon — a firm favourite on the racing calendar. Known for its tough early climbs and fast finish along the prom 🌊 , the event once again drew a strong field, with thousands lining up at the start and fantastic local support throughout the 13.1 miles.

Hailsham Harriers 🖤❤️were out in force, with a turnout of eleven tackling the challenging course. Spirits were high from the start, and the atmosphere in Hastings was electric ⚡️, with locals cheering runners up the notorious Queensway hill and all the way to the seafront finish.

Our black and red colours 🖤❤️were well represented, despite the event clashing with a grand prix event further up the road in Lewes.

The infamous climb up Queensway once again tested everyone’s strength early on, but the rewarding downhill stretch into the Old Town and the final two miles along the prom provided a fast finish, despite the challenging winds 💨

Coach Ads 🦈 led the club home in an impressive 1:31:05 with Los Jellybaby 👶🏼 1:36:26.  Audrey 💊 1:37:46 crossed the line first female Harrier home, followed closely by Mick 🏃🏽 saving himself for the Royal Parks half 1:38:09, and Oli P 💴 enjoying the atmosphere after gaining a new PB in Folkestone the week before 1:41:34.  Popey 🙏🏻 stormed around to finish in a mighty 1:43:50 with Gary Crossan 🏃🏻‍♂️ a little under the weather in 1:53:04.  BiIG Si 🥊 , our tallest Harrier out on course, romped home in 1:56:35, Nicola Twilley 🇮🇪 our newest Harrier 1:57:30, whilst Nikki WS 🦚 produced a sensational run in 2:33:05 and our amazing Nicola Sexton 🌷, back from injury to run 2:44:19 🙌 showing that hard work, patience and determination really do pay off.

There was great camaraderie throughout the morning, with plenty of encouragement among clubmates and cheers from family and friends dotted around the course.

Congratulations go to Nikki WS’s brother Dave from Haselmere Runners who raced to a fabulous 2:08:45, and sharing the magic of the Hastings Half with his lovely sister 💕
