Sunday July 6th 2025

Voted as one of the UK’s best races and organised by Wadhurst Runners in conjunction with the Nice Work Events team, a record turnout of 26 determined Harriers faced the challenging, multi-terrain course around Bewl Water Reservoir for its silver anniversary.

Two distances were on offer on the day, a 5-mile and a 15-mile race. With a little of everything thrown in, from tree routes to gravel, hills to country lanes, sweeping meadows and steep descents, a combined total of 522 people braved the challenging courses.

Last year we saw a soggy mudfest, this year the early morning rain dried up, the sun came out and the humidity ramped up 🥵

In the 15-mile race, first over the line in a mighty impressive performance saw the rocket, Chris Doherty 🚀 finish 4th overall in an incredible time of 1:36:21, followed by Captain Bartz 👨🏻‍✈️ 1:50:51, Claire Keith 🍒 1:57:16, Alice 🐈 1:59:51, Tinks 🧚🏻 2:06:54, Ads 🦈 2:06:54, Matt Courtnell 🚑 2:10:03, Bassett Hound 🐶 2:17:24, Oli 💴 2:17:28, KT 🦆 2:17:40, Belinda 🌺 2:22:11, BIG Si 🥊 2:26:21, Robin 🏄🏼‍♀️ 2:31:16, Fluffs 🐌 2:33:25, Tom 🎨 2:34:01, Steph 🧁 2:34:49, Claire Shilling 🌷 2:42:19, Vinny 💂🏻‍♀️2:42:51, Shaun 🐘 2:42:38, Alan 🍕 2:42:38, Victoria 👮🏻 2:48:49, Andrea 🇭🇺 2:49:32, Ros D 🌹 2:59:20, Lou Lou 💐3:07:05, Claire Hope 🐻 3:07:31 and Lisa PH 🧡 3:23:15.

Big shout out to Chris 🚀, Claire Keith 🍒 and KT 🦆 who flew around the tough terrain just 7 days after their epic South Downs Relay performance 🤩 ⭐

Bartz, Belinda and Steph finished with new course PB’s, whilst for Andrea, Claire Hope, Tom, Lou Lou and Claire Shilling this was their first ever 15-mile race ⭐

Huge congrats to Claire Keith 🍒, Alice 🐈 and Tinks 🧚‍♀️ who scooped first female team over the line🏆 and to Chris 🚀, Bartz 👨🏻‍✈️ and Ads 🦈 who finished first male team 🏆 🖤♥️

Over in the 5-mile event, starting 30 minutes after the main race, Sarah Day 🌼 flew the Harriers flag producing a strong performance to finish 6th female overall in a superb time of 42:52 🏆 She then stayed on to support her fellow team mates 🥰🥰

Congratulations to everyone that took part, that last uphill mile to the finish line 🏁 is always a killer but showed, yet again, that with determination, courage and true grit, anything can be achieved🖤❤️

Proceeds from the race went to the awesome Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance 🚁 (KSS) with many runners donating the cost of their medal and yellow t-shirt 👕

The next SGP event takes place on Sunday 10th August with the Henfield Half Marathon organised by Henfield Joggers, then it’s our turn to host the Hellingly 10K on Sunday 28th September 🖤♥️

Next year we hear on the grapevine that the t-shirt colour could possibly be PINK 🩷 we know this will please Steph Bassett immensely 🧁 stay tuned 😂
