Endure24 – Run Report written by Peter Drake, Thank you.
12 Harriers travelled down to Reading the Friday to chill out before the main event.
We had 3 solo’s runners and 2 teams entered to tackle the tough 5 mile course, the conditions was very hot and humid even before we started and never let up throughout the whole 24 hrs.
Lisa’s team (Hailsham Harriers) consisting of Julie, Karen, Sandra and Wendy achieved a massive 125 miles total with each lady running 25 miles each, well done team Lisa.
Peter’s team (Drake and his Ducklings) consisting of, miles ran in brackets, Becky (45), Lorraine (20) Neal (35) and me Peter (40) achieved a great total of 140 miles, well done team Ducklings.
Now the solo’s:
Cheryl ran a huge 8 laps (40).
Pete Daws 10 laps (50) and even helped a fellow solo runner around the event all of the 24 hrs, that’s why he is the Legend.
Roberto 8 laps (40) he just kept on going and most of the time only half dressed.
We got so much praise from other clubs and runners for the support we gave and help to other runners on the course, so many know the club of HH.
As in other years, at Endure, there has been a performer of the weekend and, I’m sure everyone would agree, this year, without doubt, it had to be Cheryl Drake. This is for what she has been through in the last 2 years with ops and injuries. She has come back more determined than ever and has also admitted that shes never been a lover of off-road/trail running, making it even more surprising she took on Endure 24 this year. To help her through this challenge she chose Chailey Heritage as her charity to run for this year. Massive well done Cheryl from all at Endure 24.
